Keith Wood came before Laurens City Council at last night’s meeting asking for approval of an ordinance authorizing the issuance of Combined Utility System Revenue Bonds. The bonds, he said, were needed to replace some aging trucks in the CPW fleet and to maintain natural gas lines. After the presentation from Mr. Wood, council voted unanimously on first reading to approve the ordinance. Mayor Sharon Brownlee then explained that council would have a special called meeting next week to hold second and final reading of the ordinance. She explained that the CPW needed to move forward with the project as soon as possible.
