Laurens City Police were dispatched to Sullivan Street on a theft report at 2:06 yesterday afternoon. A woman advised Officer Nolen of a man who she said took her boyfriend’s mobile phone from the apartment. The man in question told the officer that he took the woman’s boyfriend’s phone because the man had not paid him for the scrap metal they had agreed to share, and that he took the phone until the issue is settled. The man gave the phone to the officer to avoid charges, but requested that the woman’s boyfriend pay him the agreed amount or give him his share of the copper. The Officer, however, was unable to locate the other man. Meanwhile, the woman who called police requested a trespass notice be issued to the man who had taken her boyfriend’s phone. The notice was issued. Meanwhile the boyfriend’s phone was retained by police as evidence.
