The idea of using private ambulance services for mutual aid was brought to Laurens County Council this week by County EMS Director Chad Burrell. He said that the county has used private services in the past, but that there is no official county approved by council. The company Burrell wants to use is Hays Ambulance Services, but Councilman David Pitts felt that other services should also be on the list for use.
Council decided to give the matter to committee before bringing it to a vote.
Councilman Joe Wood suggested the committee should also look into the possibility that the Greenville Health System could be interested in taking charge of county ambulance operations.
