Laurens Police were dispatched to 218 Spring Street on a report of shots fired at 7:40 last evening. A woman said she was in her apartment and heard a gunshot, then came outside to discover her Kia Optima had a bullet hole in the middle of a windshield. A report from Sgt. Joey Pittman notes the fragmented remains of the bullet were in a passenger seat. Witnesses to the shooting named a man who allegedly fired the gun and named a victim he had been shooting at; but none of the witnesses would make a statement for the record. Reports at the scene indicated the victim had not been hit by the bullet, but he had left the scene. The shooter had reportedly fled towards Independence Avenue. Officers were unable to make contact with the subject or victim. Due to lack of anyone going on record with what happened, no charges were being sought last night. Damage to the car windshield and seat were estimated at $2,000.
