Power Zapped by Hit to Pole

There was a power failure on the east side of Laurens around 2:45 yesterday afternoon, taking out electrical power for an estimated 367 customers of the Laurens CPW. It is thought that a vehicle or equipment struck a utility pole on South Harper Street Extension at Wilson’s Curb Market, causing wires on the pole to make contact with other wires, shorting out the power on a circuit of the electrical system. The outage impacted areas around East Farley, Fleming Street and East Main Street out to the 127 By-Pass. Laurens CPW crews were able to restore power to the affected areas in about 18 minutes.
