Four people were killed on South Carolina Highways this past weekend. The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced that preliminary number of fatalities occurred between 6pm Friday andmidnightSunday night. That brings the total killed on the state’s roadways so far this year to 443 people as ofmidnightSunday night. That’s down from 523 highway deaths at the same time in 2012.
The 443 deaths include 298 who were motor vehicle occupants, 71 motorcyclists, 47 pedestrians and 8 bicyclists.
LaurensCountywas able to make it another week without a traffic fatality, leaving us with much improved statistics. We’re now at 4 Highway fatalities for the year, compared with 7 at the same time last year.
