The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Hopewell Church Road, Joanna at 12:54 yesterday afternoon to investigate the theft of copper wiring. Someone had entered a New Horizon Electric Sub-station and removed critical grounding wires used in preventing damage to the equipment and people near the equipment. Entry had been through a locked gate to the back of the facility. Temporary wiring was being installed until a permanent fix for the damage could be done. $3,000 in copper was reportedly taken in the theft, believed to have occurred between 10 am and Noon yesterday.
