Laurens City Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart at 12:47 Friday afternoon, where a Loss Prevention employee from the store reported being approached by a man in the parking lot who questioned if he smokes pot. He said he played along, and the man offered to sell him marijuana. Officers removed a subject from a vehicle and allegedly located a set of scales on the man and a purple bag containing marijuana under a seat of the vehicle. 26-year-old Jacob Riley Hatley “Jake” of 14 Wallace Street, Laurens was arrested on a charge of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. He is charged with having over an ounce of marijuana at Wal-Mart September 20th with Intent to Distribute. A Cash or Surety bond was set at $5,000. “Jake” Hatley remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
