Improvement in the financial picture of local schools was reported to the Laurens County District 56 School Board this week. Finance Director Dr. Gerald Robinson informed the school trustees Monday evening that the district’s financial picture continues to slowly improve.
He directed the board’s attention to tax revenues, automobile taxes in particular. He pointed out that the Laurens County Treasurer’s office is reporting significant increases in the amount collected in 2013 as compared to 2012.
In fact, the increases in revenue were significant enough to cause the district’s auditors to revise the projected fund balances for the year. This time, Dr. Robinson pointed out, in the right direction.
