A report of a fight in progress, possibly involving a handgun, dispatched Laurens City Lt. Copeland and Officer Thibodeau to Watts Street at 6:01 Saturday evening. They were advised that one of the individuals involved had left the scene in a vehicle of unknown type. On arriving officers were met by a woman who reportedly indicated the man with whom she lives had broken of the window of their vehicle with a handgun, causing his hand to be cut by the glass. He then reportedly got into his vehicle allegedly trying to ram her vehicle into the ditch. She reportedly got into the vehicle with her sister and one of the children she has with the man to move it behind the house. After allegedly ramming it with his vehicle, he left the scene.
Laurens Police Officers reportedly located the suspect vehicle at the man’s mother’s house on Fleming Street Extension and found him in the carport wearing a bloody shirt and holding a rag on his right hand, which was bleeding.
EMS was called to treat the man and Officers located a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol with blood on it.
40-year-old Charles Odell Threatt of 219 Independence Avenue, Laurens, unit #272 was arrested and charged with Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature. A warrant alleges he used the pistol to break out the window of the car the mother of his child was in. Charles Odell Threatt was released from the Johnson Detention Center yesterday on posting a $25,000 bond.
