An Upper Laurens County man was charged yesterday with committing a 6th offense of domestic violence last month, and with failure to stop for law enforcement. After an overnight arrest, 40-year-old Robert Heath Jefferson of 803 Henderson Road, Gray Court was charged yesterday with Criminal Domestic Violence 3rd Offense and with Failure to Stop for a Blue Light.
Deputy Steve Paterson states that on September 19th at 803 Henderson Church Road one Robert Jefferson did assault a member of his household by hitting her on and about her head, causing injury and fear for her life. Deputy Paterson states that this was a third or subsequent offense of domestic violence due to five prior convictions within the last ten years. The officer further alleges that on September 19th one Robert Heath Jefferson, while driving a 1995 Chevrolet truck, did fail to stop when signaled by means of siren and/or flashing light on a law enforcement vehicle on Henderson Road.
A $50,000 bond was set on the Domestic Violence charge while a $5,000 bond was set on the Failure to Stop warrant. Robert Heath Jefferson remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
