Shoplifting and Resisting Arrest

Thursday evening around 8pm Sgt. Pittman of the Laurens Police Department responded to a East Main Street business in reference to a shoplifter. The Loss Prevention employee of the business advised that the subject was in the toy section and had been placing unpurchased items into store bags. Officers began walking toward the toy department when an employee informed them the subject was walking toward the exit door. The officers observed the subject headed toward the door with a shopping cart full of items. Sgt. Pittman yelled for the subject to stop and he began to run. The subject ran out of the store and continued across the parking lot while being told he was under arrest. The subject then began throwing video games from his waistband straight up into the air. The subject was apprehended once his pants fell down causing him to fall in the road. (I can’t make this kind of stuff up) The suspect was found to be wanted by the City of Greenville for shoplifting as well. A records check found he had been convicted of shoplifting six times in the last ten years so he was charged by the Laurens Police Department with shoplifting with enhanced penalty.

48 Year old Christopher Lee Land of 107 Woodfield Street Fountain Inn  was booked into the JohnsonDetentionCenter thursday charged with resisting arrest with further charges to follow.
