A Clinton man is facing multiple charges after reportedly shoving a store employee during a shoplifting incident Monday night. Clinton Public Safety Officer Shane Harris responded to the Citgo at 102 South Broad at 9:10 Monday night on a shoplifting report. He arrived to see the store owner pointing at the suspect. The subject reportedly indicated he hadn’t done anything and attempted to walk off, but was placed in investigative detention. Lt. Anderson arrived and spoke with the store owner. Store video was also viewed. Officers reportedly determined that the subject had taken some donut sticks from the store. When confronted by the store owner he reportedly was viewed throwing them on the ground. The subject was also allegedly viewed shoving the store owner.
54-year-old Jimmy Cabbagestalk of 301 Cypress Street, Clinton was charged with Assault and Battery 3rd Degree, Shoplifting, Public Intoxication and Simple Possession of Marijuana. Cabbagestalk was later released on personal recognizance bonds of $1,882.50 on the four charges.
