SLED Called in on Apparent Suicide

SLED was called to investigate a possible suicide in Laurens County last night due to the fact that the man who killed himself was under investigation. Sheriff’s Lt. Marty Crain and other officers were dispatched to a location outside Laurens at 8:04 last evening on a report that a man who was being investigated for an incident had gone down into the woods, then a woman heard three shots. Sgt. Bobby Galarza and Laurens Police Officer Gainey went into the woods and found the victim with a single gunshot wound under his chin. He was holding a black smith & Wesson pistol in his right hand. Lt. Danny Bolt and the Coroner arrived at the scene and SLED was notified as well, due to the victim having been involved in an ongoing investigation.

This is a bad week for suicides locally. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office had another apparent suicide by gunshot in Southern Laurens County yesterday morning, and another earlier in the week in Northern Laurens County.
