CHS:

  • Daniel 31 – Clinton 7… The Red Devils’ football season came to an end last Friday night as they lost to the Daniel Lions in Central by a score of 31-7… The Red Devils generated more total offense than the Lions (310 – 295) but could just not quite get the key play when needed… Daniel went up 10-0 before Matthias Williams put Clinton of the board in the 2nd period on a 28 yard TD run with Matt Craven adding the extra point… Daniel added another score in the first half to make it 17-7 going into the locker room and then added single scores in the 3rd and 4th periods… Clinton did have 1 fumble in the game that led to a Lion scores and only had 3 penalties on the night but they just came at the most inopportune times… The loss broke the Red Devils 5 game winning streak that had powered them to 2nd place in Region 3-AAA  and a first round playoff win after going without a win in the first 6 games of the season… The team and coaching staff are to be congratulated for the fine second half of the season after the slow start… For complete game statistics and play-by-play account of the game, click on the following 2 links: Clinton at Daniel Stats 11152013Play By Play Clinton at Daniel 11152013

LDHS:

  • North Augusta 42 – Laurens 11… Turnovers were the Achilles heel of the Raiders last Friday night down at North Augusta as they had 5 of them all of which set up Yellow Jacket scoring opportunities as they took a 42-11 win over the Raiders thus ending their season with a 6-6 record… The Raiders had an interception on their 1st possession which set the Jackets up at the Laurens 7-yard line from where they scored on the first play.. Laurens responded on their next possession driving to the N.A. 8-yard line but had to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Irvin Angeles… That would be the Raiders only points of the first half as the Yellow Jackets took a 35-3 lead into the halftime break… Two interceptions and a fumble in the opening half set N.A. up in Raider territory which they then converted into points… Laurens opened the 3rd quarter by going 65 yards and scoring on a 59-yard TD pass from hammer Walker to Quin Suber…  Kevin dean then tossed a 2 point conversion for the Raiders last score of the night… The Raider defense held the Jackets to a single score in the final period to make the final 42-11… The Raiders did manage 12 more yards of total offense than the Jackets (373 – 361) but also had more penalty yards which also helped to stymie the Raiders offense… Click on the following for complete game statistics:  Laurens at North Augusta game reports 11-15-13
