Laurens Police Officers were dispatched to the old junk yard at the dead-end on Brooklyn Avenue at 2:43 yesterday afternoon in reference to items being stolen. A man advised that he was last at the location on the 2nd or 3rd of December. When he returned yesterday he noticed someone had taken multiple batteries out of his construction equipment, an excavator and bull dozers. Officers were shown where someone had broken key locks that had secured the inside, motor and mechanical workings on the equipment to gain entry. Eight batteries were taken. Six were large batteries worth between $200 and $300. Total theft value was estimated at $2,000.
