Well the kids are still out for the holidays but basketball action gets back underway next week. The Raider Boys and Girls face Easley next tuesday night at home. Clinton Varsity Boys and Girls face Newberry next Monday night at home. The Laurens Raider Varsity wrestling team will take part in the Bearcat Invitational at Rock Hill High School tomorrow and Saturday and the JV Wrestling Team will be in the Carolina Invitational Qualifier at Eastside High School Saturday.
Tonight the Lady Blue Hose face Longwood at home in the Templeton Center at 7pm and then play Radford at home saturday at 2pm.
Yesterday was a big bowl day. Nebraska chomped No. 22 Georgia 24 to 19 in the Gator Bowl, North Texas defeated UNLV 36 to 14 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, No. 16 LSU went all marsupial on Iowa 21 to 14 in the Outback Bowl, No. 4 Michigan State gae the thorn to No.5 Stanford 24 to 20 in the Rose Bowl, No. 15 UCF defeated No. 6 Baylor 52 to 42 claiming the victory is mine, nach-os in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and in the game that mattered, No. 9 South Carolina defeated No. 19 Wisconsin 34 to 24 in the Capital One Bowl. Shaw and Ellington are mentally connected and I’m going to miss that next season.
Today, No. 11 Oklahoma faces No. 3 Alabama in the Allstate Sugar Bowl at 8:30 on ESPN.
