A Man Reportedly Takes A Vehicle Without Permission

A man called into Laurens Police Department yesterday morning in reference to a subject reportedly taking a vehicle without the owner’s permission from Sunset Park, Laurens.  The complainant advised officers once they were on scene that he was intoxicated the previous night so a friend that was sober drover his vehicle back to his residence on Sunset Park. When the complainant woke up he reportedly noticed the vehicle missing. When officers went to check with the rental company the vehicle was from the complainant called back in stating a subject had allegedly returned to the incident location with the vehicle. Officers returned back to the location and placed the subject in investigative detention. It was reportedly learned that the subject had active warrants for shopping lifting, dating back to July. Damage was observed to the vehicle and the rental company advised to return the vehicle so they could access it. The subject was then placed under arrest and transported to Johnson Detention Center.

 

33 year-old Raymond Michael Mcdowell of 116 Sumter Street Extension, Laurens was arrested by Laurens Police Department yesterday morning. He was charged with use of a vehicle without permission.  He remained in Johnson Detention Center this morning, awaiting a bond hearing.

A Man Charged With Criminal Domestic Violence

36 year-old Jamaal Edward Murphy of 204 Melrose Road, Laurens was arrested by Laurens County Sheriff’s Office late Wednesday night. He was charged with Criminal Domestic Violence 3rd offence. Warrants state that he assaulted a victim by grabbing her left arm and pulling her out of a car.  He remained in Johnson Detention Center this morning, pending a bond hearing.

A Woman Charged With Criminal Domestic Violence

A woman was charged with Criminal Domestic Violence yesterday afternoon by Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. 46 year-old Cheryl Diane Myrick of 939 Lakeview Drive, Gray Court had warrants that stated she did cause physical harm or injury to a victim or attempt to cause physical harm to a victim. She was awaiting a bond hearing in Johnson Detention Center as of this morning.

Several People Arrested On Drug Related Charges

5 people were arrested on similar charges by Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday. 30 year-old Holly
Pearson Tredway of 206 Woodrow Street, Laurens was charged with possession of a
weapon during a violent crime, manufacturing of methamphetamine and drug
disposal.  Separate warrants state that
she was at a residence where items were used in the manufacturing of
methamphetamine and did knowingly have in her possession a knife during the
commission of a violent crime. 29 year-old David Wayne Nelson of 153 Pondview
Drive, Laurens was also arrested on those charges.
28 year-old Lisa Elaine Lockridge of 34 Jenkins Park, Clinton was charged
with manufacturing of methamphetamine and drug disposal. 56 year-old Cynthia
Ordendorff Taylor of 210 Joshuas Place, Laurens was charged with possession of
a weapon during a violent crime, manufacturing of methamphetamine and drug
disposal , as well as 30 year-old Jeffery Ronald Taylor of 341 Fleming Street,
Laurens.  All 5 remained in Johnson Detention Center thismorning, awaiting a bond hearing.

A Man Arrested On Charges Including Kidnapping And Criminal Domestic Violence Of A High And Aggravated Nature

Laurens County Sheriff’s Office dispatched after a woman called in stating her sister had allegedly sent her a
text stating “help” Tuesday evening.
Deputies talked with the complainant who stated that her sister was
located on Hurley Drive, Gray Court with her husband who was allegedly going to
shoot her if police showed up. Back-up was called on scene and met at the
incident location. Officers knocked on the door with no answer and also gave
verbal commands for the subject to come out of the residence. They then walked
around the residence and located the subject, then patted him down for weapons.
The subject stated he and his wife, the victim, had gotten into an argument
over her talking to someone on the internet and that was it. A short time later
one officers stepped out of the residence with what reportedly appeared to be a
plastic bag, containing 3 smaller bags full of a green leafy substance that was
believed to be marijuana. The victim reportedly complied with the subject’s
story and stated she had called her sister to help her stop the arguing.
Officers then asked if they could search the property and the victim gave
permission. They then asked if anything illegal was at the residence and the
victim stated her husband was allegedly growing marijuana in a field near the
house, but she was unsure of where. The subject was then placed under arrest
and officers were allegedly able to find several plants at the residence that
were believed to be marijuana plants. The victim also reportedly stated the
subject had not allowed her to leave the residence for several days and stated
he would kill her if she tried. She also alleged that he had shot at her in the
past and she believed he would actually harm her.

A man was arrested on multiple charges by Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday afternoon. 50 year-old Thomas
Randolph Smith of 76 Hurley Drive, Gray Court was charged with drug manufacturing,
possession of a weapon during a violent crime, kidnapping and Criminal Domestic Violence Of A High And Aggravated Nature. Separate
warrants state that he did have in his possession marijuana with the intent to
distribute and did unlawfully confine a victim with authority of law. Warrants
also state that he did cause injury to a member of his household, the act being
aggravated in that he made threats to kill the victim. Smith remained in Johnson Detention Center
this morning, awaiting a bond hearing.

Two People Arrested On Larceny Charges

Two people were arrested on similar charged by Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday afternoon. 20 year-old Jamarcus Cyril Dowdy of 29 Minnie Drive, Clinton was arrested by Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday afternoon. He was charged with breach of obtaining a signature and petit larceny. 21 year-old Andre Timothy Moultrie of 464 Emerald Circle, Clinton was arrested by Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday afternoon. He was charged with petit larceny. Warrants state that Dowdy did , by false pretenses, obtain from a victim $24 cash with the intent to cheat and defraud the victim and separate warrants state that both defendants did take and carry away weight lifting equipment valued at $100, belonging to a victim without permission and with the intent to deprive the victim. Bond was set at $2184 for Dowdy, while bond was set  $1092 for Moultrie. Both were released from Johnson Detention Center yesterday.

Clinton City Council Meeting

Clinton City Council was informed at their meeting yesterday that one of the city’s two commercial grass mowers caught fire last month and was damaged beyond repair.

 

City Manager Frank Stovall told council that the Hustler zero radius turn mower was being used to mow along the right of way inside Clinton’s Phase III Corporate Park when the incident occurred.  He told council that money had been set aside in the current year’s budget to purchase a third mower and recommended that this money be diverted to replace the mower destroyed last month.  He said the city could wait until a later date to add a third mower.

 

The city did advertise for bids and only one bid was received.  King Outdoor of Clinton submitted a bid of $7,854.77 for a new Hustler zero radius turn mower.  He recommended that council accept that bid and authorize purchase of the mower.

 

After deliberations council voted unanimously to approve the City Manager’s recommendation.

 

Two People Charged With Criminal Domestic Violence

Two people were arrested by Clinton Public Safety yesterday morning. 22 year-old Brittany Shawnta Wallace and 23 year-old Lorenzo Dwight Wicker both of 1321 South Broad Street Apartment #30, Clinton were both separately charged with Criminal Domestic Violence.

Warrants state that Brittany Wallace did cause injury to a victim by scratching him in the facial and arm area causing minor abrasions.

Warrants also state that Lorenzo Wicker did cause injury to a victim by throwing her on the ground and jumping on her legs.

Bond was set at $2,150 each.  Wicker was released from Johnson Detention Center yesterday while Wallace remained in Johnson Detention Center this morning.

A 911 Ends In A Criminal Domestic Violence Arrest

Laurens Police Department was dispatched to Reed
Street, Laurens Saturday in reference to a 911 call that sounded like a domestic
dispute. When officers arrived on scene they reportedly heard several loud
noises but were unable to get anyone to the door. Eventually a female answered
the door and seemed to be afraid. The female was said to have a small cut on
her forehead and her hair looked as if it had been pulled. Officers then asked
the female victim to step outside, though she said everything was fine. As she
went to exit the residence a male subject reportedly came up behind her and
said everything was okay. Both parties were separated and talked to. The victim
stated that she was at a friend’s house when the subject called her cell-phone
though she did not hear it and was unable to answer it. When she returned back to
her residence the subject allegedly became irate and cursing at her about not
answering her phone so she started to back a bag so she could stay with a
friend to avoid the situation. The subject the reportedly threw the bag so the
victim tried to call 911 but the subject was able to take the phone from her
before she was able to.  The subject then
allegedly grabbed the victim by the arms and pushed her on the floor, holding
her where she couldn’t leave. During the struggle a computer desk and picture
was said to have gotten knocked over, causing several glass pieces that cut
both parties. Due to the evidence presented officers then placed the subject
under arrested for Criminal Domestic Violence.

46 year-old Leroy Hunter JR of 202 Reed Street, Laurens was arrested by Laurens Police Department Saturday morning. He was charged
with Criminal Domestic Violence. Bond was set at $2179 and he was released from Johnson Detention Center later that day.

A Man Charged With Criminal Domestic Violence

An assault dispatched Laurens Police Department
Saturday morning to Church Street, Laurens. Upon arrival officers spoke with a
victim whose face was said to have been swollen and bleeding from a laceration
on her right eye. The victim stated her boyfriend, the subject, allegedly hit
her in the face several times then locked herself in their apartment, refusing
to come out.  The victim stated when the
subject came home he reportedly became irate when questioned about a late night
phone call. The subject then allegedly hit the victim in the face so she told
him to leave. He then went to leave but returned and reportedly started
assaulting the victim again. Officers then talked with the subject over the
phone because he would not leave his apartment. A short time later he complied
with officers to come out of the apartment and was placed under arrest.

24 year-old Jakheam Rasaahn Rice of 900 Church St Apt G1, Laurens was arrested by Laurens Police Department Saturday
morning.  He was charged with Criminal Domestic Violence. Bond
was set at $2179 and he was released from Johnson Detention Center later that day.
