Glenn Signs to Play Football at Atlanta Sports Academy.


Clinton High School multi-sport star Lavadrick Glenn signed a letter of intent to play football at the Atlanta Sports Academy. He has over 3000 career yards rushing and 41 touchdowns to his credit. He is expected to be a running back for the Spartans. He is the son of Ms. Bernadette Glenn. A cousin Dontavius Glenn was noted by Ms. Glenn as having been a great role model and mentor for Lavadrick.

Two Raider Wrestlers Qualify for State AAAA Tournament

The AAAA Upper State Wrestling Tournament was held at LDHS on Friday and Saturday February 15th & 16th 2013.  The Raiders had qualified 10 wrestlers for the tournament and when it finished, 2 of them have qualified for the State Tournament this coming weekend at the Anderson Civic Center. Austin “Spanky” Crocker finished 1st in the 195-pound weight class.. He defeated the #1 seed in the semi-finals and then took a 5-3 decision in overtime to take the upper state championship. He will be joined in Anderson next weekend by teammate Ryan Hughes who finished 2nd in the 182-pound weight class.  Ryan won the vast majority of his matches this season and took the 1st 3 of his matches this weekend. He did get pinned in the finals but was not 100% as he suffered an arm injury in one of those matched that affected him in the finals. Clinton YMCA-City of Clinton 2013 Youth Baseball & Softball Information


The Clinton Family YMCA is taking registration for its YMCA – City of Clinton Youth baseball and girls softball program for ages 3 – 15.  The Y is offering seven different playing groups for ages 3 – 15. Wee-ball will be offered for boys and girls ages 3 – 4 and follow t-ball guidelines; T-ball is for ages 5 – 6 and will bat off of a tee and be an instructional league.  Ages 7 – 8 will play AA ‘coaches pitch’ league with the adult coach pitching to the batter; Dixie Minors is for ages 9 – 10 and will play regulation Dixie Youth rules and pitching guidelines with live pitching.  Ages 11 – 12 will play in the Dixie Youth league while Ages 13 – 14 will play in the Dixie Boys league.

Girl’s softball will be offered for ages  7 – 9, 10 – 12 and 13 – 15 year old age groups.

The registration deadline is Tuesday, February 19 with registration being taken daily at the YMCA reception desk during business hours of 8:30 am – 9 pm Monday thru Friday; 9 am – 6 pm Saturdays and 2 – 5 pm on Sundays.  Registration fees are $ 40.00 for YMCA members and $ 55.00 for participants.  There will be a $10 LATE FEE if registered after February 19th.  The last day to register is February 28th. The YMCA is offering financial aid and assistance to greater Clinton citizens as well.  The YMCA goal is to deny no one the opportunity to participate.

The league age is that age attained by a player prior to May 1 of this current baseball season.  Ex.  A player who is ten-years of age during the early part of the season but who will be eleven years of age on or before April 30 shall have a league age of eleven.  A player who is ten years of age during the season but who will be eleven years of age on or after May 1 shall have a league age of ten.

The YMCA is seeking volunteer coaches for all leagues as well.  Anyone interested in coaching a team should contact YMCA Physical Director Brian Shealy for details.  The YMCA can be reached at 833-1555 or 833-YMCA (9622).
