Welcome this is your Real Radio 860 WLBG sports for Friday and it’s brought to you by Presbyterian College Athletics… Last Tuesday the Georgia Bulldogs proved to be too much for the Blue Hose baseball team as the Dawgs took a 10-1 victory in Athens… The baseball team is on the road taking on Charleston Southern this weekend… You can get live game stats at GoBlueHose.com.

  • Softball: Chapman 18 – Clinton 1… Last night the Lady Red Devils hosted the region leading Lady Panthers of Chapman and Chapman mounted a 22 hit attack to take an 18-1 win in 5 innings… Clinton went hitless on the night and their lone run in the 1st inning came when Allison Oxner reached on a walk and later scored on a Chapman error… Prior to the game, Tori Merrill was honored as Clinton’s only senior… Clinton will host Clover in a doubleheader tomorrow starting at noon during which YMCA softball players will be admitted free if they wear their jersey.
  • Baseball: Chapman 4 – Clinton 3… Meanwhile the Red Devil baseball team traveled to Chapman and the Red Devils rallied last in the game but the Panthers held on to take a 4-3 win in Clinton’s last region game of the season… Chapman got on the board first scoring 2 runs in the 3rd inning and single runs in the 4th and 5th innings… The Clinton bats which had been held hitless finally picked up their only 2 hits of the night in the 6th inning as Clinton put its 3 runs on the board in that inning… With 1 out, Landon Allison walked and Dalton Foster followed with a single… During the play, Chapman committed an error which allowed Allison to score and Foster to move to 2nd… After the next batter flied out, Blake Riddle drew a walk that put runners on 1st & 2nd… A wild pitch than allowed them to advance 1 base each… Hunter Stewart then singled driving in both base runners… Chapman then got the next batter to fly out to end the inning and retired the Red Devils in order in the 7th to take the win… Unfortunately this loss removes Clinton from playoff contention… Click on the following for ac complete box score of the game: 2013-4-18__CHS-3__Chapman-4
  • Tennis: Clinton 7 – Chapman 0…  For the third match in a row, the CHS tennis team took a 7-0 win in region action at Chapman… Austin and Isaac MacMillan, Alec Powell, Jay Peay and Robert Powell all had wins in singles action… A. McMillan & A. Powell teamed up to take a win as the #1 doubles team and Jacob Tiller and Joe Scarborough did the same as the #2 doubles team… The Red Devils are now 9-2 overall and 7-0 in region play… Click on the following for more match details:2013-4-18__CHS-7_Chapman-0
  • Golf: Clinton 177 – Abbeville 199… Yesterday the Red Devil golf team hosted the Abbeville Panthers and the Red Devils picked up their 10th win of the season (10-7-1) as they defeated the Panthers 177-199…. Zach Davis was match medalist shooting a 41… Other Clinton scores were: Michael Mann – 42, Harrison Fisher – 45, William Lollis – 49, Riley Harkins – 51 and Joe Milner – 55.

CHS:

  • Golf: Union County 163 – Clinton 174Back on Tuesday the CHS golf team traveled to River Chase  C.C to take on Union County and the Yellow Jackets defeated the Red Devils 163 to 174… Hunter Nichols was match medalist shooting a 2 below par 34… Other Clinton scores were: Zach Davis – 45, Nate Moody – 47, Harrison Fisher – 48, Michael Mann – 53 & Caleb Moore – 57… The Red Devils are now 9-7-1 on the season.
  • Soccer: Clinton 5 – Union County 1… Also on Tuesday the soccer team traveled to Union but the ending was different as Clinton took a 5-3 win… Madison Simpson continues to lead the Red Devils in scoring as he had 4 goals in the match… Nolan Boozer had the other goal for Clinton… Union outshot Clinton 19-9 but Jose Gayton was able to save 9 shots in goal.
  • JV baseball: Union County 7 – Clinton 2.. The Clinton and Union County JV baseball teams met for the second night in a row last night in Union and the Yellow Jackets avenged a 14-4 loss on Tuesday night with a 7-2 win last night… The score was only 4-2 Union going into the bottom of the 6th when Union scored 3 to break the game open… The Red Devils leading hitter was Austin Foster who went 2-3 with a triple… Clinton is now 11-3 on the season. 

CHS vs. LDHS

  • Soccer: Clinton 4 – Laurens 2… Last night the soccer team hosted Laurens and the Red Devils won their second match in as many days as they defeated Laurens 4-2… Madison Simpson led Clinton with 3 goals and again Nolan Boozer had the other Red Devil goal… Laurens 2 goals were scored by Spanky Crocker and Henry Garcia… Laurens took 14 shots on goal to Clinton’s 12 and Clinton’s Jose Gayton had 8 saves in goal while Lauren’ Casey Downs had 7… Clinton’s record is now 6-1 ( 2-5) while Laurens is 5-8.
  • Track: Laurens vs. Clinton: On Tuesday Laurens and Clinton faced off in a track meet at LDHS… In girls’ action, Laurens defeated Clinton 80 – 46… The Lady Raiders took 1st place in 12 of the 16 events run… In boys action the results were close to the same as Laurens took a 78-63 win… The [Read more...]

  • Tennis: Clinton 7 – Union 0… For the second night in a row, the CHS tennis team took a 7-0 win in region action and last night the victim was Union County… Austin and Isaac MacMillan, Alec Powell, Jay Peay and Robert Powell all had wins in singles action… A.   • Baseball: Union County 10 – Clinton 0… The Red Devil baseball team hosted the Union County Yellow Jackets last night and the visitors took a 10-0 win in 5 innings… Union got 2 runs in the 2nd inning, 5 in the 4th and 3 in the 5th to take the win… In each of those innings, walks and miscues by the Red Devils helped the Union cause… Clinton also sputtered on offense as Bradley Templeton had the only hit for the Red Devils….   • Softball: Union County 12 – Clinton 2… The Lady Red Devil softball team traveled to Union County yesterday and all I know at this time is that they lost 12-2 in 5 innings but the game is being appealed on a situation at the end of the game.. If I get more details I will pass them on to you.
  • JV Baseball: Clinton 14 – Union County 4… The CHS JV baseball team continued on their winning ways as they defeated Union County 14-4 yesterday…. Davis Cunningham got the win pitching 4 good innings and Brayden Gibbs finished the game… Chandler Todd & Braeden Webb both went 3-3 to lead the Red Devils… Their record is now 11-2.

Welcome this is your Real Radio 860 WLBG sports for Tuesday and it’s brought to you by Presbyterian College Athletics…Last weekend the Blue Hose baseball team took 2 out of 3 UNC Ashville to run their season record to 20-17 and 7-5 in the Big South… About this time last week I told you they would be playing Clemson and that they always play the “big boys” tough and they lost by a run in the 9th… Well they have that opportunity again opportunity again to day as they travel to Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs… Let’s see how they do today.

  • Softball: Clinton 1 – Woodruff 0… Last Friday night the Lady Red Devil softball team hosted the Lady Wolverines of Woodruff and the Red Devils scored the only run of the game in the first inning and then held on to take a 1-0… Clinton’s run came after Allison Oxner reached on a hit and later Mason Paige Gambrell executed a squeeze bunt to score Oxner… Jessica Wood picked up the win giving up only 2 hits and striking out 9… The Red Devils also played improved defense as they committed only 1 error.
  • Tennis: Clinton 7 – Woodruff 0… Yesterday the Red Devil tennis team traveled to Woodruff and continued their roll through region play as they defeated the Wolverines 7-0… Austin and Isaac MacMillan, Alec Powell, Jay Peay and Robert Powell all had wins in singles action… Alec & Robert Powell teamed up to take a win in doubles action as did Jacob Tiller and Joe Scarborough… The Red Devils are now 8-2 overall and 5-0 in region play… Click on the following for more match details: 2013-4-15__CHS-7_Woodruff-0
  • JV Baseball: Clinton 6 – Emerald 0… The Clinton JV baseball team continued their winning ways as they defeated Emerald 6-0 at home yesterday… Tristan Smaltz threw a complete game 2-hit shutout with 6 strikeouts… Clinton’s leading hitters were Delshun Young who went 3-3 with a double, Austin Foster and Davis Cunningham also had 2 hits apiece… Coach Turner stated “Tristan pitched outstanding and we played solid defense behind him. The guys played a great game tonight and I am very proud of their effort today”.  Record: 10-2

Welcome this is your Real Radio 860 WLBG sports for Monday and it’s brought to you by The City of Laurens has announced that registration for the 6th annual Laurens Idol and Jr. Idol are now taking place at the city hall… Jr, Idol is for boys & girls 8-15… Open auditions are April 25th & 28th and you must register before then… Contact Jason Pridgen at 864-681-7275 for more information.

  • Baseball: Woodruff 9 – Clinton 3… The Red Devil baseball team traveled to Woodruff last Friday and the Wolverines scored 4 in the 1st inning and 5 in the 6th to take a 9-3 win… Austin Wooten got the start for Clinton and struggled giving up the 4 earned runs on 1 hit, 5 walks and a couple of hit batters… Bradley Templeton came in and pitched strong until the 6th inning when Woodruff touched him for 5 runs and Landon Allison finished the inning… Clinton got runs in the top of the 6th inning… Colby Templeton doubled and 2 batters later came home when Bradley Templeton singled and advanced to 2nd on an error by the catcher… He then scored when Hunter Stewart doubled… Clinton’s last run came in the top of the 7th inning when Matt Craven and Brandon Pitts both singled… Landon Allison then walked to load the bases… Craven scored then scored when Dalton Foster reached on a fielder’s choice during which B. Pitts was put out at 3rd… The Wolverines were then able to retire the next 2 Red Devils to end the game….   • Soccer: Woodruff 6 – Clinton 2…. The CHS soccer team also traveled to Woodruff last Friday night and they also came up a little short as Woodruff took a 6-2 win… Madison Simpson was again the leading scorer for the Red Devils as he had both goals… Woodruff outshot Clinton 12-10 and Seth Anderson was the only Clinton goal keeper to have saves in goal with 4… Clinton is now 4-11 on the season and 1-5 in region play.

  • Softball: JL Mann 15 – Laurens 3… Last Friday the Lady Raiders traveled to JL Mann to take on the Lady Patriots and an 11 run 4th inning for the Patriots proved to be too much for the Raiders as Mann took a 15-3 win in region action… Mann struck first putting 4 runs on the board in the 2nd inning… The Raiders picked up their 3 runs in the top of the 4th inning… Elizabeth Carman led off with a single then Maria Williamson and Michaela [Read more...]

Welcome this is your Real Radio 860 WLBG sports for Friday and it’s brought to you by Presbyterian College Athletics… Well I mentioned to you on Tuesday that the PC baseball team was taking on Clemson last Wednesday and they always play the “big boys” tough… That was again the case at Clemson as PC fell 5-4 to the #17 ranked Tigers in the bottom of the 9th… The Blue Hose will be on the road this weekend as they start a weekend series at UNC-Ashville today at 3:00..   • Tennis: Clinton 7 – Broome 0… Back on Wednesday the CHS tennis team traveled to Broome and picked up a 7-0 win in region completion… Austin MacMillan, Alec Powell, Jay Pea, Isaac MacMillan and Robert Powell all had wins in singles action… A. MacMillan and A.   • JV Baseball: Clinton 10 – Chester 7… Also on Wednesday the Clinton JV baseball team traveled to Chester and took a 10-7 win over the Cyclones… Jeremy Simmons was the winning pitcher.  The Red Devils leading hitters were: Braeden Webb 2-4, Brayden Gibbs 1-2 and Jeremy Simmons 1-1.  Coach Mike Turner commented “We were very sloppy defensively, but found a way to win late in the game.  We were down 7-5 going into top of 6th and scored 5 runs in the inning to pull-out the win.”  The JV record is now 9-2.

  • Soccer: Clinton 6 – Chester 1… On Tuesday the CHS soccer team hosted Chester and good news as the Red Devils took a 6-1 win in region action… Madison Simpson had 3 goals for Clinton and Rodolfo Orozco had 2… Dexter Simmons also had a goal for the Red Devils… Clinton outshot Chester 31-9 and Seth Anderson had 6 saves in goal.
  • Soccer: Clinton 4 – Middle College 3… Yesterday the Red Devil soccer team picked up its 2nd win in a row as they defeated Greer Middle College 4-3… Madison Simpson again led the Red Devil offense with 2 goals and Dexter Simmons had 1… Clinton’s winning goal actually came courtesy of GMC as they caused the ball to go into their goal… GMC outshot Clinton 15-11 and Seth Anderson and Jose Gayton combined to stop 6 GMC shots… Clinton’s record is now 4-10

  • Baseball: Chester 16 – Clinton 0… Clinton hosted Chester in region 3-AAA baseball action last night and the score was 4-0 Chester going into the top of the 7th inning… Unfortunately Clinton suffered through one of those innings that happens every now and then as Chester put 12 runs on the board in the 7th to take a 16-0 win… Colby Templeton had 2 of the Red Devils 4 hits with Brandon Pitts and Dalton Foster getting 1 each.
  • JV Baseball: Clinton 11 – Chester 0… Better news for the JV team as they defeated Chester 11-0 in 5 innings… Tristan Smaltz was the winning pitcher (2-hit shutout, 5 K’s).  Leading hitters: Tyler Kelly, Chandler Todd, Brayden Gibbs, and Braeden Webb who were all 2-3.  Coach Mike Turner commented “The guys played very well tonight and it was great to get everyone a chance to play as well.”…  Record: 8-2
  • Golf Monday (4-8)… Catching up with Red Devils golf, on Monday Clinton traveled to Chester for a 3 way match that included Chapman… Chapman won the match shooting a 159 while Clinton finished 2nd with a 169 and Chapman 3rd with a190… Hunter Nichols tied with a player from both the other schools to have the lowest score of 38… Other scores for the Red Devils are: Zach Davis & Harrison Fisher – 43, Nate Moody – 45 and both Michael Mann and Riley Harkins had a 49… The Red Devils are now 9-4 on the season.

Welcome this is your Real Radio 860 WLBG sports for Tuesday and it’s brought to you by Presbyterian College Athletics… The PC baseball team had a rough weekend as they dropped 3 games to Campbell at home…  Campbell is a tough team that has only lost 5 games all year… PC will be on the road tomorrow as they travel to Clemson to take on the Tigers in a 6:30pm game… PC always seems to play the “big boys” tough and I expect the same tomorrow.

  • Softball: Chester 8 – Clinton 5… The Lady Red Devils hosted the Lady Cyclones of Chester in region softball action last night… Errors and missed opportunities proved to be the Red Devils undoing as Chester took and 8-5 win… Chester scored 1 run in the 1st inning and 3 in the 3rd inning to take a 4-0 lead… all 4 runs were unearned… Clinton had runners on 1st & 2nd base in the 3rd inning with no outs but could not score… Clinton did put 3 runs on the board in the 4th inning… Cassie Nichols led off with a walk, Jessica Wood singled and Kylie Griffin walked to load the bases… After the next batter struck out, Tori Merrill doubled clearing the bases… Clinton managed to reload the bases with 2 outs but could not get the key hit… Chester got one of those runs back in the 5th inning to make it 5-3 Chester… Clinton got that run back in their half of the 5th inning when J. Wood again singled and was later driven in by Kayleigh Pitts drawing a walk with the bases loaded walk with 2 outs… Unfortunately, Clinton could get no more and left 3 runners stranded… Chester added another run in the 6th to make it 6-4… Clinton picked up their last run in the bottom of the 6th when Allison Oxner led the inning off walking and later scoring on a Chester error… The Lady Cyclones got 2 insurance runs in the top of the 7th and Clinton left a base runner stranded in their half of the 7th… Jessica Wood and Tori Merrill both went 2-3 the lead the Red Devil offense… Jessica Wood took the loss but pitched well enough to win… Only 4 of Chester’s 8 runs were earned and she gave up 11 hits but struck out 6 while walking none… Click on the following for game stats: 2013-4-8_CHSB-5_Chester-8

Welcome this is your Real Radio 860 WLBG sports for Monday and it’s brought to you by the City of Laurens…This coming Saturday the City of Laurens is having a Cornhole Tournament and Music Celebration….All Proceeds benefit the Relay for Life Campaign in Honor of Bootsie Cox… The Cornhole Tournament begins at 11am and there is a $20 entry fee if you pre-register or $25 day of event… All ages welcome for the Cornhole tournament… Hot Dogs and Hamburgers will be available for sale…Music will begin at 5pm and is free to the public….All tournament participants can pre-register at the Laurens Mill Street and Main Street Fire stations… For more information please email LaurensPRD@yahoo.com or Bhughes@cityoflaurenssc.com.

  • Soccer: Nike Palmetto Cup in Cayce … Clinton played 2 games last Friday in the Nike Palmetto Cup in Cayce…
    • Fort Mill 8 – Clinton 0… In the first game, a strong Fort Mill team took an 8-0 win over Clinton… Fort Mill had 19 shots on goal while there defense held Clinton to none… Jose Gayton managed to make 9 saves in goal.
    • Clinton 6 – Westwood 3… Better news in their second match of the day as the Clinton took a 6-3 win over Westwood… Madison Simpson led the Red Devils offense scoring 3 goals… Nolan Boozer added 2 and Joseph Rodriguez had 1… Westwood outshot Clinton 16-14 but Jose Gayton was able to save 9 of Westwood’s shots in goal… The Red Devils are now 2-10 on the season.
